Senior portraits have come a long way since I was in high school -and I *LOVE* the direction they’ve taken! Madison came down from Ohio to have a unique and fashion-forward senior portrait session with me in rural Central Texas. She was looking for something different than all the other seniors in her area -and, boy howdy, did we get something wonderfully different! There are few things that Madison nailed that I’ve seen other seniors have a bit a trouble with.
1) Great outfits. She accessorized beautifully, selected unique looks for each wardrobe change, she chose flattering outfits that expressed her personality.
Senior portrait sessions are becoming more along the lines of “glamour” sessions, not the standard “me by a tree in my polo shirt smiling cheesy and posed unnaturally.” I like to call those “JC Penney” sessions. But Madison’s portraits are exactly what’s trending -beautiful, expressive portrait sessions that are more what you’d find in a magazine spread than *my* yearbook.
2) Great Hair+Make Up. Folks, I cannot express how important this is. Photoshop can only do so much (and evening skin tone takes a photographer so much longer than if a client was to take a little time and get their make up done well, done professionally.) You’re just going to look THAT much better if you invest in an excellent hair and make up artist. Simple as that.
Madison had Angela of Lucie Marie come over and get her beautified. Angela is fabulous -I’ve worked with her many times.
3) A Playful Attitude. The pins I see most from my clients are of women filled with emotion, in mid-movement, expressive, firey -ALIVE! If that’s the look you want to have in your session, bring a playful attitude with you. Being shy, afraid to move, -basically, being afraid to look silly or do the wrong thing- is a sure-fire way to make your photos look stiff. I’ll help you open up, shake out the tension, have fun and enjoy yourself, BUT I need you to mentally prepare to HAVE A BLAST! Be Free, Be YOU! That’s what makes your photos so unique and stunning -letting your light SHINE!
