Babies are fascinating. I know it’s part of the lifecycle, but think about it: You are an incredibly complex being. You have dreams, thoughts, emotions, talents, abilities in a combination unlike any other person. Your body is unique, your voice, your finger prints, your hair swirls. And each time a woman and a man come together to create a new life, this amazing thing happens: the creation of an unreplicable person.
Christina+Ricky, who I had the joy of getting to know during their engagement session and wedding, ushered Miss Scarlett into the world last month. I had the ultimate privilege of coming to their home in Houston to capture these sweet moments together in Scarlett’s first week of life.
In-home newborn sessions are such a treasure. The last thing most families want to do is pack up all the baby gear and a delicate infant for a car ride to take photos, particularly if there are other family members you’d like to include in the session. When I come to my clients, everything is there, being captured in their natural, loving environment where parents can relax and snuggle their newborn in an organic space.
I love capturing these connected moments, the ones where love pours out from one heart to another. There’s something electric about it. Expressions, body language -all share so much about relationships. Yes, we’ll of course do some pretty shots of just baby, but for the most part we’ll focus on connection. That’s where the magic resides.
And it’s always special when Grandma gets to pop in for some sweet photos with her family’s new little life!
